Salmon in the Delaware The floating office of the United States Fish Commission, which in marine nomenclature is known as the Fish Hawk, dropped her anchor a few nights ago in the waters that lave the Gloucester beach in the Delaware River, and for the next few weeks the officials in charge will purchase many millions of shad eggs and propagate the fry for the restocking, of the many rivers visited annually by that succulent denizen of the deep. But for this labor shad would soon be exterminated, as in SEEN the natural order of events the spawn are AND largely destroyed before the ova are hatched. HEARD But what the Fish Hawk folks are most anxious about, and what they will watch with eager interest, is the result of their labors towards the propagation of salmon in the Delaware waters. The efforts making and that have been made towards the introduction of this gamest of all fish into waters so much further south than its natural lair in the cold streams of Canada and Norway and Scotland present an interesting story.
