The Secret of the Alchemist Dar , is a delightful, beautifully written book. Full of morals and dilemmas that a child would be very intrigued by. We loved the relationship between Zac and Anne. It shows love in an extraordinary way, yet very old fashioned. The mystery caught us off guard and it was full of suspence. I would highly recommend this to children and adults alike. My children are Home Schooled and we read everything and anything that is old , new and different. The Book is gentle and frightening at the same time. A great combination to capture one's attention. The greatest part of the book that pulls the entire story together are the two animal's Pook and Booger.

story or hunt?
This is an excellent book! The story itself is heartbreaking, with a heart-mending ending! The idea of the treasure hunt is also awesome, although the clues are very difficult; it takes a person who has a lot of time and patience to seek out the solutions. Overall, the book is great, even if you do not participate in the hunt.
