This slim volume provides little-known information on the early history of the exploration of the universe. There are interesting cameos of some of the early explorers of the heavens and the author takes great pains to correctly credit the astronomers who first explored the universe beyond the solar system. The book is well illustrated with rarely seen images and is a terrific introduction to deep-sky astronomy before the Herschels. RECOMMENDED.
