Inscribed on the front fly: "Clifford Sellers Henderson from Lila Bell Wallace. September 1960." Wallace was the co-founder of *Reader's Digest* magazine in 1922. In 1972 she was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Richard Nixon, and was posthumously awarded the National Medal of Arts in 1992. Henderson was a founding editor of the Reader's Digest Book Club.
