Then Arioch brought Daniel unto the king in haste, and said to him, I have found a man of the children of the captivity of Judah, that will make known unto the king the meaning. The king answered and said to Daniel, Canst thou tell me the dream which I saw and its meaning? Daniel answered the king, and said, There is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and He hath made known to King Nebuchadrezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these: Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. Its head was of fine gold, its breast and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, THE DREAM AND ITS MEANING. 257 its feet part of iron, and part of clay. As thou didst behold, a stone, not hewn by hands, smote the image upon its feet of iron and clay, and brake them in pieces.
