This was a hard book to read because I couldn't reach back through time and slap Scott for his stubborn British ego. Aumundsen was better prepared, had done research on surviving in the Arctic and fairly beat Scott. All the men on both teams suffered tremendous hardship but Scott seems to have been the 'Architect of his own demise'. It's a gripping, wonderfully told story of endurance, a competition of wills and a differing approach to judgement.
