Present are original red cloth dust-jackets. Limited Large Paper Edition, this being number 38 of 150 copies printed. 398 and 464 pages respectively, with comprehensive index at end of volume II. Illustrated with 51 photogravures, all with tissue guards intact, a fold out genealogical chart of The Sovereigns of Scotland [Vol. I], and a fold-out full color map of Scotland at the end of Vol. II. A very nice illustrated history of Scotland in the deluxe, limited edition. No previous ownership marks. Dust-jackets are age soiled and rubbed, especially at spines. White linen covers are clean, with only a hint of age. Hinges are strong and solidly attached. Text block in both volumes deckle edged, and partially unopened. Text is clean and all plates are in excellent condition. A sound, square, clean set, in poor dust-jackets, which have never-the-less protected white linen covers admirably. A very good+ copy of this deluxe, limited set, in poor original red cloth dust-jackets. A large, heavy set, Priority and International orders will require additional postage. N.B. Near Fine in Very Good dust jacket. Color map & B&W Illustrations; 5 1/2 x 8 x 2; 464, 398 pages; 1901 edition. Both volumes have light rubbing/bumping to boards. DJ is a plain, rich brown of heavy, coated paper with gold lettering on spine; light shelf wear/rubbing. Covers are rich dark brown with bright gold crest and lettering on fronts and spine. Gilt edged top of text block, slightly rubbed. Pages are clean and tight, appears as if unused. Each volume has a stitched in red ribbon book mark. Volume I has a bound in, folded royal family tree of Scottish Rulers from 11th century to 1901. Volume II has a bound in folded color map of scotland at rear of book. Each book illustrated with 20+ b/w, photogravures, each with a protective tissue and an index for that volume. This was a wonderful travel guide and history for any visitor to Scotland 100 years ago, and a wonderful example of a tourist 'blast from the past'.
