In diesem er sten Band, dem der hier vorgelegte folgt, wurde "Grund gelegt": Die wichtigsten Architekten kamen zu Wort, und in einigen Aufsatzen wurde versucht, der neuen Architekturstromung habhaft zu werden. Dabei war es von vornherein Bestandteil des Konzeptes, die engen Grenzen des Fachgebietes zu durchbrechen. Das ergibt sich nicht nur daraus, dass ein Diskurs in Gang gekommen ist zwischen Architekten und Philosophen (der mir eher zufallig zu sein scheint und auf wenige Namen eingrenzbar ist); der eigentliche Grund fur die Erweiterung des kritischen Spektrums liegt vielmehr darin, dass beim Dekonstruktivismus der "V erdacht einer Weitsicht" naheliegt, wie er schon im Untertitel des ersten Buches ange deutet wird: ein neues Bild, eine neue Sicht der Welt? Oder vielleicht gar eine Sicht auf eine neue Welt? Wird hier der alte Anspruch der Architek tur, eine Welt sichtbar zu machen (wie bei jeder Kunst, aber anders als an dere standig offentlich zur Schau gestellt), erneut erhoben? Die damaligen Antworten verstarkten eher die Zweifel an einer sol chen These. Andererseits erwies sich in den folgenden Jahren der Dekon struktivismus als zaher, als es eine blosse Modestromung zu sein pflegt."
