In addition, the concept of creation has also been applied in contexts apart from theology and the church. The frequent designation of the world as a creation in the sense of an environment which is to be preserved is usually too narrow a view and does not provide a sufficient interpretation of the various meanings of the theological discourse on creation. Conversely, the theological use of the term "creation" often suffers from a premature dismissal of its specific relation to the world. The articles in this volume show how creation can be seen in a theologically appropriate manner and at the same time in a form communicable to the public from the perspective of individual theological disciplines but also in its entirety.
