In 1913, when Henry Ford's autos are becoming popular and affordable, Sam Lancaster is given the job of designing a highway through the Gorge of the Columbia. Sam first finds some of the most spectacular scenic locations, then plans his road so it passes by these beauty spots. Having suffered illness and disability himself, Sam is always ready to help those in need. Sam's life and commitment are an inspiration to today's children to overcome obstacles and find ways to make a difference in the world.
