What the Benedictine Monks did for chant, these group of vocal "honeys" hope to do for the secular songs of the Middle Sges. While the work here is adequate, the Anonymous 4 have kept this music alive with a much greater sense of musicality for many years. At last, plain-chant with women. Though it's nice to hear monks (or pseudomonks), most plain-chant sort of runs all together after while. I may be among the last to discover the Baebes, but I'm glad I did. This is a different twist on what you expect to hear given the title and contents. Throw in a French-Canadian folk song and a few Christmas carols (out of place but pleasant listening) and it makes a nice CD.
