This is the first of the BSG books that I have read~ Mostly due to the fact that it is an original story and not a rehash of the series. Overall I enjoyed the book very much it got off to a bit of a slow start and the last half of the book was better then the first. The characters remained in character through out the story which made the story better and more believable. I would recommend this book to my friends especially if they like the fleet dynamics between the leaders in times of crisis. It takes place prior to New Caprica and Billy's Death. President Roslin and Commander Adama are just beginning to trust each other again after their return from Kobal. But Laura is not completely sure that she can share her latest 'visions' with him, fearing that he may think that she is crazy and unfit to lead the fleet and possibly even throw her n the brig again. She starts to think that maybe she is going crazy and Billy convinces her that she is not and urges her to talk to Adama but she steadfast refuses to due to her fears. Bill eventually finds out through another source and helps her through her ordeal. Just before it is to late to do anything she realizes what her visions and dreams are trying to tell her. This is mainly about Laura and a group of refugees called the Midguardians believers in a ancient form of the Twelve colonies religion who say want to become the 14th colony but have ulterior motives. So this is not a book with a lot of action in the sense of combat or fighting the Cylons. So if that is what you prefer I wouldn't recommend this book. Overall it was a good read, not excellent, but definitely worth reading.
