Pretty boy rock group MDO has enjoyed a number of years of success in the Latin pop world, lingering somewhere between fame and obscurity. With better than a decade's worth of singles that hovered in the top half of Latin pop airplay charts, MDO have earned a place at the rock table. The group's 2006 release Sabe a Ti demonstrates exactly the qualities that earned them the respectable career they currently enjoy. While some groups set their artistic sights high, with either huge success or complete failure lying in wait, MDO take no such risk. The proof is in the pudding: Sabe a Ti is a good record, but not exceptional. From repertoire to production to the individual performances, MDO play it safe and gets a good return on their investment. There's not a bad track on the disc. Singles "No Queda Nada" and title track "Sabe a Ti" are radio ready, with a slick sound and sing-able hook. The vocal harmonies throughout are pleasing, tight ear candy. All MDO's arrangements are fool-proof and perfectly executed. Although Sabe a Ti is stylistically dated to U.S. ears, relying on progressions and grooves stateside rockers left behind a decade back, no one could blame them for that. It's a genre-wide trait.
