The pair come to an understanding and strike a mutually beneficial agreement. The small mining town of Aurora, Missouri is their first step into civilization together on their way out west. And while the preacher there helps send Lazarus down the right path, the deputy is an unwelcome anchor to his past. When Lazarus is forced to take part in an inside job bank robbery to save Rhiannon, his past is exposed to the preacher, and the citizens of the town choose to extract justice for the crime. Narrowly escaping execution at the hands of the angry mob, Rhiannon must defend Lazarus to the judge and gain his freedom.
