I've been reading historical fiction since short pants; come to think of it that's what I'm wearing as I write this; let's just leave it that my hair was" seventy shades of gray" lighter. So, I don't think I'm bragging when I say I can tell the good from the not so good. Authentic historical fiction requires a solid "historical background" , otherwise, it is simply 'fiction'. M.C. Scott, (imo) writes pretty fair fiction... not made for the certified "historical fiction" buff!
