The liner notes of the album go into pleasing detail not only about the historical aspects of each composition, but also about the sometimes overlooked place of the guitar in art music. Given all of the focus that is placed (rightly) on the guitar in the printed material for this album, listeners may be surprised when they actually listen to the disc, for it is often difficult if not impossible to hear the guitar.
