In the PESA act, the basic emphasis has been placed on with assigned authority to the Gram Sabha to protect the traditions, beliefs and culture of the tribal communities. It has exclusive authority over determining the land right and exploitation of natural resources. So far as Chhattisgarh is concerned, it is largely tribal populated state. The study tries to examine the relative successes and failures of PESA in the state with special reference to two districts namely Durg and Korba.
