Smash records was really the NASA of the Roger Miller launch, but any label with tapes of the guy was re-releasing them in the '60s. When it was originally recorded in 1960, neither Miller nor Nelson were household names, both struggling with their careers and the forces attempting to shape them into more conventional Nashville talent.
