Frankie Lymon was just 13 years old when his group the Teenagers scored a Top 10 hit with the song "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" in 1956. The song was a superb example of classic New York doo wop, and Lymon's masterful soprano vocals made him a star overnight; by the time the group released their second record, "I Want You to Be My Girl," he'd been given top billing, with the act now known as Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers.
