None. Good. A handsome edition of Sir Walter Scott's 'Rob Roy', part of the famous collection entitled 'The Waverley Novels'. With an introduction essay and notes by Andrew Lang and ten illustrated plates. Volume four of a twenty-four volume set of Walter Scott's Waverley Novels. The Waverley novels are a long series by Scott that were extremely popular and widely read throughout Europe in the nineteenth century. Many are historical novels with Rob Roy being set in the early sixteenth century. Walter Scott did not initially acknowledge authorship and so the series took its name from the first book published, "Waverley". In a tree calf binding with gilt detail by Rivieres and Son. Externally, smart with light rubbing with light wear to the extremities. The joints are starting but sound. Light fading to the back board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with light spotting to first and last pages. Good.
