Very good. Cover has slight wear and soiling. Inscribed by author on title page. All his life Stimson Bullitt has belonged to Seattle, with excursions elsewhere that included undergraduate years at Yale and four years in the Navy during World War II. Bullitt is a ninth-generation American lawyer. His first political activity was a letter-writing campaign in 1942 in defense of Japanese Americans. He has taken part in civic affairs, locally and nationally, in the fields of government reorganization, political process reforms, race relations, foreign affairs, and conservation. Among honors he has received, perhaps the best known was his inclusion on Nixon's "Enemies List." Charles Stimson "Stim" Bullitt, was the former president of King Broadcasting, political activist, lawyer, author and businessman. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart after suffering an shrapnel wound in the Philippines. After the war, he became active in a variety of Democratic causes, making an unsuccessful run for Congress in 1952. In 1961, he became president of KING-TV. He opposed the Vietnam War and many of the policies of President Richard Nixon, which resulted in him being placed on Nixon's "enemies list"-a development he took as a badge of honor. Mr. Bullitt, who started Seattle magazine and a film-production company, also founded Seattle's Harbor Properties, constructing more that 1, 300 residences, including affordable housing and the signature Harbor Steps on First Avenue. He was among the early advocates in reviving downtown Seattle as a vibrant, livable neighborhood. As an attorney, he was known for his work on environmental and human-rights causes.
