You won't hear any actual singing or rapping on abrasive, hard-edged cuts like "L.S.D. Is The Bomb," "Phobia (Latin For Fear)" and "Pink Potato"--rather, Rhythm and Rave is essentially a collection of instrumental techno tracks that have been united with scattered samples and soundbites. This CD is about beats and tracks, not vocal personality, and those samples range from the passionate screams of James Brown to soundbites from various documentaries and films. Rhythm and Rave isn't for the unseasoned techno listener; you have to have some understanding of the rave and underground club culture of the 1980s and 1990s to appreciate what's going on.
