This is a "must read" for anyone with a daughter. When my daughter turned 13, I thought I didn't need to read the book because she was such a good kid. Well, now at 21, things are different. It seems like parts of this book were written about my daughter. It helped me to see that what was going wasn't about me, my husband or our parenting but about our daughter expressing her need for independence and the struggles that she faces in our modern world. Although she is 21, she is going through what adolescents go through. During her Middle school/High school years, she was a dedicated athlete who had no time for the "games" of passage. I think this book is good for mothers and daughters to read at any age. It was very insightful and well written. There is information about burning, cutting, etc. which didn't apply to us but so much that did apply. It answered so many of my questions. It's a shame that our world is what it is but this book sheds light on many issues.
