It followed "The Informer, " and is strongly anti-war, based upon his experiences serving with the Irish Guards in World War One. This is a Very Good copy of the First American Edition (stated). Bright orange cloth binding with black lettering. Mild wear to the edges. Clean and fresh text; previous-owner name on front paste-down. The dustjacket is complete; showing wear at the edges, with some staining to the rear panel. The foot of the spine has a large chip, resulting in a loss of 1-1/4". In an archival plastic protector.
