The author had an interesting idea, but really failed to develop it in any meaningful way. If you are into cosplay and looking for a different area to explore then this book might be useful to you. If you are just an average person who might be trying to get a handle on what retroculture is about, then you will probably find this book is too hardcore. If he had just hit the the high points, then he could have written a magazine article and it would have presented the concepts without coming on too strong. On the other hand, if retroculture appeals to you, then this book will disappoint you as it mainly repeats obvious points and is almost completely lacking in providing pointers to resources (websites, stores, other books, etc.). You are better off doing a web search on retroculture and going from there.
