Whatever became of himself, or of his own interests, he was far-sighted and vigilant in the discharge of trusts committed to his care. He fulfilled his engagements to his fellow-men, as faithfully as he endeavored to please God, and that is saying a great deal. Throughout a laborious career of more than seventy years, he exemplified strictly the apostle's language, not slothful in busi ness, fervent in spirit, serving the lord.
