When I read the Bible one of the messages that I hear over and over is "Remember who you are." In the creation story of Genesis, in the long history of the Israelites from Egypt to the Promised Land, in the Psalms and Proverbs, in the prophetic warnings to God's people, in the gospel accounts of Jesus' life, in Paul's letters to the churches, and in the very last words of the Revelation, the authors of the Bible seem to be telling me to remember who God is and who I am. I wrote these devotions to encourage my children to study the Bible and allow the scriptures to shape their lives, but this book is also meant to remind any young Christian of some basic truths about who you are. Each devotion begins with Bible passages to read followed by a brief story that connects a significant life event to the scriptural theme. Paintings by some well-known artists accompany the devotions as inspiring visual reminders of what the Bible says about us.
