Seller's Description:
None. Near Fine. An illustrated description of the life and works of Rembrandt by Malcolm Bell, with a photogravure to frontispiece and further black and white reproductions of his works throughout. Part of the 'Great Masters in Painting and Sculpture' series edited by G. Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (1606-1669) was a Dutch painter and etcher. He is generally considered one of the greatest painters and printmakers in European art history and the most important in Dutch history. His contributions to art came in a period of great wealth and cultural achievement that historians call the Dutch Golden Age when Dutch Golden Age painting, although in many ways antithetical to the Baroque style that dominated Europe, was extremely prolific and innovative. With bookseller's label and bookplate to front pastedown Handsomely bound in paper vellum. Externally, in excellent condition with minor wear to extremities and the odd slight mark. Internally, firmly bound. Bright but with occasional slight foxing, mostly to endpapers. With evidence of past label to front free endpaper. Near Fine.
