Esos hombres, que tuvieron que ir a cumplir el servicio militar a los diferentes y lejanos lugares de Ultramar, sufrieron las incomodidades de la epoca, la distancia de sus hogares y la rebeldia del enemigo que tenia como objetivo eliminarlos. Estas circunstancias hacian fuerte y resistente a un "ejercito de pobres" que tuvieron que marcharse a las colonias para defender la bandera espanola por no disponer de dos mil pesetas de la epoca. Esta basada en hechos reales y sus protagonistas van a representar a los soldados que tuvieron que ir a la guerra de independencia y a sus familiares que se quedaron esperando su regreso. Hay que recordar que el perfil de tantos soldados que lucharon en la defensa de las colonias es muy similar y se caracteriza por su humildad, obediencia y respeto al mando. Tres elementos fundamentales que han hecho de ellos hundirse en el anonimato y pasar desapercibidos por la historia de Espana.
