An excellent narrative
The first volume of a two volume study of the changes that took place in the Jesuits during the sixties and seventies is a fine study. Fr. Becker provides a very fair and balanced study of what was a difficult period for many members of the order. He shows how Jesuits were trying to gain a better understanding of the essence of their order's reason for proceeding. To understand life as a religious during that time, this is an excellent book, well worth reading. As one who lived through some of the events that he described, I feel that provides all readers with an excellent study of daily life in the Jesuits. It is a book with details that speaks to the whole.
