Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. pastored the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama from 1954 to 1960. Within months of his arrival there, Rosa Parks, a young seamstress, refused to yield her seat to a white man on a segregated Montgomery bus. Her arrest sparked the formation of the Montgomery Improvement Association and the famous Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955-1956. The young Rev.
