Disky's Red Hot Rockabilly, Pt. 3 does have its share of rockabilly gems, but this is hardly a collection of raw, backwoods, wild-ass rockabilly -- the kind that fuels Bear Family's tremendous That'll Flat Git It series, for instance. This has a few solid rockabilly hits -- most notably Ricky Nelson's peerless "Waitin' in School," but also covers of big songs by major stars: Eddie Cochran's version of "Blue Suede Shoes," Johnny Burnette tackling "Kiss Me," plus lesser sides from Buddy Knox and a whole bunch of Bob Luman (which may suit some listeners' tastes, including mine, but not many). Essentially, this winds up as a bunch of country boogie and pop-abilly, not a lot of storming rockabilly, and while this isn't a bad thing, it would be more acceptable if there were better songs here.
