This edition is not an exact reprint of the English one many errors, to be attributed to haste, have been corrected much mat ter, of a local interest merely, has been omitted, and several narratives, among which are those entitled Eugene Aram, The Force of Fear, The Unlawful Gift, etc., have been added. In addition to the fact that these tales are authentic, it is certain that their aim and tendency are good they are pure, and they are instructive as well as interesting.
