Poetry is a curious thing. Quite often people define it as being extremely limiting (as if poetry were a single thing). As a writer, I've been recognized for my craft, though as a human, it has saved me more than you could imagine. I've been able to make sense of life through verses, as well as take control of emotions by using them to create something new.Although I'm often making a case for poetry and how powerful it can be, this is the first time I include all my published poetry in a single collection. This book includes Between the Tides, Dark Strands, Captured Moments, Black Tie Affair, and Roulette of Rhymes. In addition, I'm including poems that appear in my bilingual collection Twenty Veinte as well as bonus poems available in my middle grade short story collection Daydreams on the Sherbet Shore. The mission of this collection is simple: to show you that poetry can be a whole bunch of things (and not just your typical "roses are red" shtick), and to hopefully inspire you to pick up a pen, pencil, or word processor and see what new ways you can find to express what you feel and how you feel it. All that is left now is to "release the words!"JD Estrada is a Puerto Rican author with 15 published books covering a variety of genres, from fantasy to non-fiction, with many more on the way. He's pretty easy to find online so by all means, if you want to talk poetry, tea, or just say hi, search @jdestradawriter on your preferred social media platform and drop a line.
