Rebecca goes on the air with talk-show host, Warren Jackson, to plead for the feuding to stop. Despite students' acknowledgement and involvement in the crimes committed, no one confesses to abducting Bobbie.Cynthia Connell, the home and garden reporter for the local newspaper, decides to do an exclusive on Rebecca and her friends. In the process of joining Rebecca during her sleuthing, Cynthia meets Guy. The two have an instant liking for each other which warms into a meaningful relationship. (Throughout the remainder of the story, their relationship deepens.)The case is solved with the help of an eccentric, elderly woman who lives across the highway from Guy Thomas's neighborhood. For the two years since Guy had met Miss Dobbs, he thought of her as an unfriendly, unstable "fruit cake." He is pleasantly surprised when he gets to know her. Both he and Miss Dobbs learn to not judge people by their looks!As in all of Rebecca's cases, this mystery is resolved with a happy ending. Miss Dobbs made an insightful suggestion about how to help Bobbie find his way home and to everyone's delight, it worked.
