teacher at Mist Grade School in Mist, Oregon
. I am the teacher at Mist Grade School in Mist, Oregon. I teach 21 students in grades K-5. You sent our little school a copy of Raptor Ravine a couple years back. Please forgive my tardiness with this thank you. I wanted to read the book first before I read it to the class.
My son and I read it at home first. He was in 4th grade at the time. It was his first rather large and difficult chapter book he read...and he plowed right through it! He couldn't wait to read it at night with me. He would read, then I would read, and then he didn't wait for me any longer to get to his room at night! He finished it on his own! Then my older son took it and plowed through it. I set the book aside after this and forgot about it until this spring.
We were studying Northwest plants and animals in our area this winter at school and I thought about your book.
The book had left a good image in my mind about the setting and the surrounding area around our school. And even though it is fiction with dinosaurs I though it would be fun to read. Needless to say the students loved the book!!! They were all ears during story time. All of them Kindergarten through fifth! They were quite taken and thrilled with hearing the words Mist, Mist Elementary School, Vernonia, Clatskanie, etc. They loved little Apollo and how she acted. They loved Trik and his adventure. They liked how Trick never gave up on his pet or friends.
