This book is excellent, but the translation from Spanish to English is not very good. You will truly enjoy it if you can read a copy in Spanish. The book is based upon the interviews the author did in the sixties to Rachel, a well known artist who used to sing and dance at the Alahambra theater at the beginning of the XX century in Cuba. She was an exceptional witness of how was the social life, and politics of the time, because the theater used to be the favorite place to go not only for the politicians and rich men of the era, but all Cuban men in general. The author even respects the language used by the artist, so it is an amazing testimony.
