This is the original edition of RPG Percentile Combat. The current version is the 2nd edition (with light blue cover). This booklet is an add-on combat system for the world's greatest fantasy role-playing game ("WGRPG"). These guidelines are designed to enhance the tactical combat experience for players, while not significantly changing the balanced mechanics of the game. This system replaces three main processes in the WGRPG: 1) process to determine if a character or creature is able to strike an opponent with a melee attack, 2) process to determine the amount of normal damage resulting from a successful attack and 3) process to determine the amount of damage resulting from a critical hit. In the WGRPG, players use of a variety of different gaming dice (D4, D6, D10, D20, etc.) to determine the outcome of these processes. However, players only need to use percentile dice when using this system. While a simpler dice rolling structure is being used, note that these guidelines are compatible with character-specific modifiers. Players are able to easily convert their ability modifier and proficiency bonus from a D20 to percentile system. There are several key features worth highlighting in this system: 1) Players have an option to substitute attack and damage percentile dice rolls, which introduces a fun tactical dynamic, where low level characters may strike an opponent more frequently and higher-level characters may inflict greater damage, 2) Consider differences in size in attack rolls - for example, a large-sized attacker should find it more difficult to strike a small-sized target than one that is the same size, 3) Damage depends on armor and the type of attack - for example, chain mail should offer more protection against slashing damage than blunt force damage and 4) Critical hit damage is dependent on the damage roll (when critical hits are independent, it is possible to roll extremely low values, e.g., score 2 points of damage when rolling 2 six-sided dice).
