Good in Good jacket. Book Octavo, hardcover, VG ex library copy in dj. 276 pp. including index. The founding fathers knew better than to pin down their descendants too closely. Basic principles rather than petty details were what they established at the Convention in 1789. They provided Article V a process for amending the Constitution; this has been used frequently. In 1791 the first 10 amendments, known as the Bill of Rights were added. The 13th abolished slavery; 16th allowed Congress to levy income tax; 19th gave women the vote (yeah! ); 22nd limited president to 2 terms.
Excellent book on a fascinating subject. A "must read" for any student of supreme court history. It spells out in some of the most important decisions the competing issues and consitutional principles in a a very readable, easy-to-follow format.
