Questa tesi comprende lo studio sulle variazioni temporali e spaziali di alcuni parametri fisico-chimici dei letti di cozze lungo la Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka, India. Si tratta di indagini su tracce di metalli selezionati e pesticidi organoclorurati nelle acque dei molluschi, il loro bioaccumulo nel tessuto molle delle cozze verdi e la risposta biomarcatore nei mitili. I risultati dello studio indicano che i pesticidi organoclorurati e i metalli in tracce nelle acque dei molluschi dell'area di studio erano molto bassi, con concentrazioni al di sotto del limite rilevabile, ed ??? improbabile che in un prossimo futuro si verifichi un impatto ambientale significativo sulla salute delle cozze verdi.
