Most of the compounds showed an ability to inhibit the maximum electroshock (MES) and pentylenetetrazole (PTZ)-induced convulsions. Compound 1A, i.e. 2-(4-Chloro-phenyl)-5-nitro-1H-benzimidazole exhibited maximum activity.
