The mature, more finely nuanced Elvis of "Kentucky Rain," "It's Impossible," and "In the Ghetto" makes an interesting contrast with the younger, more threatening Elvis of "Jailhouse Rock," etc. One marvels at how underrated he was by his critics, and also how much more he had to offer than just a few years of rock & roll excitement.
