The root of a tree or plant may be compared to the heart or will; the fruit to the life or conduct proceeding therefrom. Affections from love in the will produce thoughts; but thoughts do not produce affections: it appears as if they produce them, but it is a fallacy; the reason that affections produce thoughts is, because they proceed from the will or desire. Affections may be considered not the heart or will, but as so many streams proceeding therefrom, as the media to convey'the desires or inclinations into the understanding. GOOD THOUGHTS.
