Psychopathology is a medical text authored by Dr. Edward J. Kempf, a researcher and clinical psychiatrist St. Elizabeth Hospital in Washington, D.C. This volume provides readers with the opportunity to learn about mental disorders and abnormal behaviours as they were understood in the early twentieth century. Psychopathology is a detailed examination of many cases of abnormal behaviour as researched and interpreted by Dr. Kempf. Over the course of nearly 800 pages, the author tackles a litany of subjects related to psychopathology, including the psychology of the family, the struggle for goodness and happiness, the influence of organic inferiorities upon one's personality, paranoia, anxiety, and many more. The book is also notable for its discussion of what is termed homosexual panic, described as a reactive psychosis occasionally seen in individuals targeted by unwanted sexual advances from members of the same sex. This controversial disorder has since been referred to as Kempf's Disease. Psychopathology , as with many works on the topic of psychiatry written in the early twentieth century, may seem dated at times as the medical community's understanding of mental disorders has since progressed, and thus some Kempf's findings have since been proven to be inaccurate. Some of the content of this work may be considered controversial, and thus readers should maintain a critical mind when examining the author's writings. Edward Kempf's Psychopathology is a notable early effort at detailing the myriad of mental disorders and abnormal behaviours experienced by humans. Students of the field will likely find this book to be a fascinating read. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Find more at ...
