German description: Mit Freuds Tod im Londoner Exil 1939 und der Diskriminierung durch den Nationalsozialismus ging die Epoche der Psychoanalyse als innovative Botschaft in Mitteleuropa in der ersten Halfte des 20. Jahrhunderts zu Ende. Die USA, London und Paris entwickelten sich zu den neuen Zentren. Von dort gingen ganz neue Entwicklungen aus, die den "klassischen Freud" grundsatzlich erneuerten.
