Excerpt from Proceedings of the World Conference on Work for the Blind: Under the Auspices of the American Association of Instructors of the Blind, American Association of Workers for the Blind, American Foundation for the Blind, Inc.; With the Co-Operation of the American Braille Press for War and Civilian Blind, Inc The World Conference on Work for the Blind held in New York in April, 1931, was attended by delegates from thirty-two countries, and was the most widely representative gathering of workers for the blind ever assembled. The Conference was held under the auspices of the American Foundation for the Blind, the American Association of Instructors of the Blind, and the Amer ican Association of Workers for the Blind, in col-operation with the American Braille Press for War and Civilian Blind, and many other Associations throughout the world. The call for the Confer ence was issued by the President of the United States, Herbert Hoover, in March, 1930, upon the authority of a special resolution of the Congress of the United States.
