Sloppy Thinking, Sloppy Writing
I have now read three of Alice Miller's books, one of them a recycled version of 'Prisoners.' All of them present strident assertion for fact, trash other psychological theorists (Freud, Jung,Klein, etc.), and make sweeping generalizations unsuppported by statistics or convincing examples. Miller excoriates parental behavior as the source of most or all of adult neuroses and trauma but offers no solution to this supposed cycle of abuse (other than her own revolutionary therapeutic interventions, which she frequently lauds).
