Primetime: A Novel Primetime explores the idea of celebrity through the viewpoint of a grocery manager in a small Midwestern town. Sam explores the meaning of celebrity after he is the lone survivor of a rare drive by shooting in his hometown Waukaponeda. He describes employees, customers and conversations he has in order to finally come to an understand and an acceptance of what celebrity and fame means, at least in a small town. Primetime is the story of fame and celebrity not on a national worldwide scale but what its like in a small town and Sam trying to reconcile that being the lone survivor of a drive-by shooting, which gives him his own odd fame, coupled with his position at work, he struggles not only with survivors guilt but the "what now." While inspired by true events and actual people, fame is still an incredibly curious thing. It means different things to different people in different places around the world. Fame is not the same in New York and Los Angeles as it is in Dowagiac, Michigan or South Bend, Indiana.
