I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for a compelling read with Christian themes woven throughout. Pretense follows two girls (and later women), Mackenzie and Delancey, from elementary school age to mid-twenties. Character development is excellent--this is the first book I have cried while reading. The beginning of the book is a little slow, but once the book picks up it doesn't stop! Warning: read at your own risk. Be prepared to clear your schedule and become plunged into the world of two amazing women and the family and friends dear to them.
