Nathan's father has just been diagnosed with cancer, and the only place Nathan can go to escape the stress at home is into a fantasy world that he accesses through his dreams. But, even there, trouble is brewing as a growing breed of 'Reactors' attempt to control people's minds. Nathan joins a band of rebels led by a carefree woman called Rada, and as he struggles to understand her cryptic leadership style, he begins to realise that the messages he is hearing could help his father... and himself. Power of the Light is an allegorical story that sheds light on the ancient theme of good versus evil whilst affirming healthy life choices that are backed by the cutting edge knowledge in the realm of nutrition, human behaviour and quantum physics. Author's Note: My aim, with this book, is to present a contemporary family dealing with a contemporary set of problems (cancer; how to find meaning and success in a rapidly-changing world; relationships issues, especially with our parents; and conventional vs alternative approaches to health and life), and to track their journey in discovering and adopting new ways of thinking and being. The 'fantasy' component is a series of dreams that help Nathan process the challenges his family is dealing with. In these dreams, in which an evil regime is attempting to control the population, a female leader called Rada encourages a small group of courageous folk to 'Create' the reality they wish to experience rather than 'React' to the fear-generating Reactors. (One becomes a Reactor by reacting.) There are many lessons throughout the dream sequences that incorporate empowering messages (eg. the world is one's mirror, the dynamic of projection, 'the problem of measurement' from quantum physics, the importance of creating/switching on the light rather than resisting/fighting the dark, and other ideas). In the 'reality sequences' Nathan's parents initially respond to the illness in a conventional way but then they learn about a more wholistic and conscious approach that includes a plant food diet; it's also where Nathan's father begins to face the emotional side of his illness: his long-term anger with his father and his guilt about his lack of success vocationally; and he begins to make some changes. Meanwhile, Nathan is dealing with all these significant changes and applying the insights to his own life. I decided to launch Power of the Light now (mid-2020) because of the relevance of the zeitgeist: illness, fear and agendas regarding control of the population via lockdown and potential mandatory vaccination/chipping, etc.
